Catching up with the comments (a/k/a letters to the editor)

Consider this sort of a "letters to the editor" column (with hyperlinks).

We don't see that many comments here, and certainly would love to see more.

A shortcoming of blog commenting, I think, is that if a comment is appended to a somwhat older post, many interested readers never see it, as they have already read the post.
