The Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act requires companies that have contracts with the federal government — over 100k in total — to actively seek out veterans when hiring, and forbids discrimination against them when filling jobs and promoting employees.
The Act itself may not require re-wording to increase job availability, but the issue is the Act is loosely enforced. As such, even returning vets with the added prospects of VEVRAA find it difficult to find a job.
